Spanier had planned to promote his book, “In the Lion’s Den: The Penn State Scandal and a Rush to Judgment,” in an appearance at a bookstore in the HUB-Robeson Center.
The university canceled in-person classes on the University Park campus through 5 am Thursday. Many activities also were canceled, though as of Wednesday afternoon a men’s volleyball match against Long Beach State was still scheduled for 7 pm in Rec Hall.
Spanier had been scheduled to appear at the University Park Barnes & Noble bookstore from 4:30 to 7 pm to promote his memoir, which offers his take on the investigation into the Jerry Sandusky scandal and fallout.
He said the event could be rescheduled, but a date had not been set.
A winter weather advisory from the National Weather Service remained in effect for the State College area with 2 to 4 inches of snow and mixed precipitation expected through early evening.
