Best NASCAR Cup Series odds
The favorite: Chase Elliott (+200)
Elliott has been the best driver in the NASCAR Cup Series this year and the numbers back it up.
The No. 9 car ranks first in some of the most important stats that track driver performance. Elliott leads the way in wins (five), average driver rating (98.7), quality passes (2,327) and average running position (11).
The 26-year-old also ranks first in laps led (803) and fifth in fastest laps run (402).
Elliott’s been inconsistent as of late, however, and has loosened his grip on the top spot just a bit. He finished 20th at Charlotte, 21st at Las Vegas and 14th at Miami.
His performance this year puts him third in the Cup Series standings with 4,093 season points and first in playoff points with 46. He’s tied for first with 19 finishes inside the top 10 while also winning six stages so far, tying Kyle Larson, Joey Logano and Ross Chastain for the second most.
Other NASCAR Cup Series choices
Best value: Joey Logano (+255)
Logano’s compiling points with the best of them and remains a solid bet for those looking to fade Elliott.
The 32-year-old has collected at least 25 points in 10 of his last 13 races, earning seven top-10 finishes during that stretch. He went 17 races without a win before claiming the checkered flag at Las Vegas recently.
Logano ranks first with 4,106 season points and 26 playoff points. He hasn’t amassed as many top-five and top-10 finishes as his contemporaries, but he sits fifth with 597 laps led and is tied for third with six stage wins.
The veteran seems to be catching fire at a perfect time.
Driver to watch: Ross Chastain (+400)
The last couple of weeks have done wonders for Chastain’s chances of winning the Cup Series.
The No. 1 car earned 80 points by picking up a pair of second-place finishes at Las Vegas and Miami. He’s now accumulated five top-10 finishes over the last seven races, which explains why his odds to win have shortened from +600 to +400.
Chastain ranks second in season points with 4,101 and sits third in playoff points with 21. He’s amassed an eye-popping 242 in his last seven races.
The 29-year-old has more top-five finishes (13) than any driver and is tied for first with 19 top-10 finishes. He can push himself closer to the front of the pack if he continues to find similar success.
