With the start of Florida’s first preseason camp under head coach Billy Napier less than a month away, the 2022 season is quickly approaching, and the Gators are looking to avoid another sub-.500 finish in his inaugural season in Gainesville.
Florida finished the 2021 season with a 6-7 record, which culminated in the departure of former coach Dan Mullen and his coaching staff, although Florida was able to retain the majority of its roster from last season.
UF fans may have lofty goals with Napier at the helm, but the Gators have question marks at multiple positions and the schedule isn’t the most favorable in recent memory. Since arriving on campus, Napier has preached patience when it comes to Florida’s rebuild, so anyone expecting UF to return to competitiveness in the SEC may be in for a rude awakening. The season opens with an opponent bringing back the majority of a roster that finished last season ranked No. 12 in the final Associated Press top-25 poll, and the road slate will present a challenge as the Gators head to Tennessee twice during the regular season in addition to traveling to College Station.
Below, we’ve ranked Florida’s 12 opponents from easiest to toughest, as 247Sports begins breaking down the 2022 season.
